Beverly Hills Lacrosse
Hosts Annual Banquet

The Beverly Hills lacrosse Club held their annual banquet last week and handed out awards at the Varsity & Junior Varsity levels.

The evening started off with Head Junior Varsity Coach Michael Delabar honoring the Beverly Hills Middle School team and presenting Ryan Larkin with a special Goalie Award. Coach Delabar then went on to present the 2009 Junior Varsity awards starting with giving the Coaches Award to Marc Hurwitz. Following that, freshmen Saul Bruenell and Brian Emrani were honored as Most Improved Players, Mathew Davidov received Defensive Player of the Year and Maddy O’neill was honored with the Offensive Player of the Year award. Finally, sophomore attackman Mikey Cole received the Most Valuable Player award.

Head Varsity Coach Tim Ray then took over the ceremonies and honored the unusually large group of seniors with the following awards: Defenseman Eli Kestenbaum got the Most Improved Player award while goalie Matt Kaye got the Unsung Hero award. Alex Komlos garnered the Coaches Award and the Offensive Player of the Year. Senior defensemen Matt Horowitz and Dustin Moaven shared the Defensive Players of the Year award and senior Dylan Dordick was honored with both the Hammer Award for the biggest “hit” of the season and the biggest honor of all, Most Valuable Player.

Coach Ray also handed out Varsity Letters to: 2009 Captains Matt Horowitz, Brandon Bank, Dustin Moaven & Alex Komlos plus Gianni Nicolosi, Matt Kaye, Ryan Lockhart, Isaac Shapiro, Willy Woods, Sean Eitani, Eli Kestenbaum, Johnny Park, Dylan Dordick, Yoni Laham, Sean Mashian, Mugen Ishii, Russ Siadation & Jason Kahn.

After handing out the Varsity Letters, Coach Ray presented Coaches Chris Bray and Eric Baker with Plaques honoring their many years of service to the Beverly Hills Lacrosse teams, starting in 2000 and 2001 respectively.

Coach Ray’s last order of business was to name Juniors Ryan Lockhart and Willy Woods Co-Captains for the 2010 lacrosse season and announce that senior Captain Alex Komlos was named to the All Bay League second team at attack.
